West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation
The new West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation corporate office houses 40 management, staff and technician offices. It includes a lobby area with a payment center as well as a convenient two-lane drive-thru for its customers. As a community-based co-op, the new building also features the West Kentucky Community Room, a 140-capacity multiuse space with an industrial kitchen that is available for civic organization meeting and community events.
The building is one story with the exception of the basement area which includes in the Emergency Operations & Dispatch Center. The Emergency Operations & Dispatch Center is a highly protected structure which will serve as the 24-hour control and dispatch center to assist customers as efficiently as possible during emergency power events. This portion of the building is resistant to tornadic winds, earthquake and other natural/weather events. It features generator power and communications services that are protected to maintain operations in the event of a widespread power outage.
The exterior is brick with a gabled roof. The site features a scenic pond and walking track which is available to both the employees as well as the community.
