Interior Designer

At Sherman Carter Barnhart Architects we are dedicated to being creative and forward-thinking to meet our client’s vision.  We are seeking an Interior Designer to join our team.  As an Interior Designer, you will participate in the development of interior design solutions in collaboration with our multiple teams.  Your role will contribute to the design process including preparation of materials, schematic design, design development, contract documentation, and construction administration. This role provides the opportunity to pursue professional growth while contributing to a firm with a passion for improving the quality of our communities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience working on mid to large scale projects, preferred. Experience with education, and/or commercial projects preferred.
  • NCIDQ certification preferred.
  • Strong design and technical skills as well as the knowledge of building and life safety codes required.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Sketch-Up, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign) required.

 

Project Manager

Sherman Carter Barnhart Architect’s Affordable Housing Studio is growing, and we are seeking a qualified individual with experience in multifamily design and construction for the position of Project Manager in our Lexington and/or Louisville office.  This individual must be innovative, creative, a forward thinker, and be active in growth in KY and the surrounding region.

Qualified applicants must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Architecture preferred
  • State of Kentucky Architectural License or near completion of ARE, preferred
  • Minimum ten (10) years architectural experience
  • A high level of architectural knowledge and the ability to develop contract documents and perform construction administration
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate meetings with the client and project staff, as well as consultant coordination
  • Creative thinking ability and aesthetic sensitivity
  • Experience with governmental agencies/affordable housing along with knowledge of building codes and zoning ordinances
  • Thorough knowledge of local code requirements with the ability to implement
  • Strong skills regarding job knowledge, communication, leadership, planning, teamwork, decision-making, judgment and problem solving associated with all phases of a project
  • The ability to utilize computer systems as a tool to effectively manage projects. Required computer skills: AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe, and MS Office

 

Director, Landscape Architecture Division

Sherman Carter Barnhart Architects is seeking a creative, motivated individual to serve as the director of the firm’s landscape architecture department. The position provides an opportunity to lead a team in the creation, design, and delivery of landscape architecture on a portfolio of diverse public projects. The director is involved in the pursuit of market opportunities, project presentations, and management of client relationships. The role includes developing site studies and establishing general landscape requirements.

Qualified applicants must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited institution
  • State of Kentucky Landscape Architecture License
  • Minimum ten (10) years experience

 

Architectural Technician

Sherman Carter Barnhart Architects is seeking an experienced Architectural Intern/Technician. Qualified candidates must be self-motivated and able to work in both a team environment as well as independently. Job responsibilities include:

  • Use AutoCAD, Revit and SketchUp effectively to draft drawings.
  • Execute production assignments in a timely manner.
  • Submit architectural plans to management for review and approval.
  • Modify and update drawings based on review comments from management.
  • Participate in team meetings to coordinate production schedules.
  • Ensure to follow best practices and company standards.
  • Provide project status updates to management and design team on a regular basis.

Required Qualifications :

  • A minimum of a 2-year Associates Degree in Architectural Technology
  • 3-5 years of experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit
  • Additional technical skills with Adobe and MS Office is a plus

 

Experienced Architect

Sherman Carter Barnhart is seeking an experienced Architect to join our Lexington or Louisville office.  This individual must be innovative, creative, a forward thinker, and be active in growth in KY and the surrounding region.

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Architecture
