Its being called one of the "greenest" schools in the country, and it's right here in our area. North Middle School in Hardin County just opened to students this week.
Teachers and staff moved into the building over the winter break from Radcliff Middle School. The school uses only 35% of the energy of a regular school. The $24 million facility has windows everywhere, which brings in lots of natural light. And it uses geothermal heating and cooling.
Radcliff Middle School, where North Middle students used to attend, is being renovated from the inside out. It's being converted into an elementary school because Hardin County needs the space. That growth is due to military families moving into the Fort Knox area.
